Her student Kaitlyn writes in her letter, “When she teaches, she uses a promethean board so that her teaching may appeal to the visual learners as well as the auditory learners. Now at Central High, Sally teaches sophomores and uses a promethean board. It’s what they come up with on their own.” The whole point of it is - it’s their voice. I try to focus on creative writing - the students enjoy it. She explains, “That certainly was not the only time I had seen that this was an issue, it is so easy for students today to take the easy way out with what is accessible to them online. Sally was not paid to give that extra time to her students, but it was important to her for them to learn to write a paper. As hard as that year was, it was really rewarding.”
I was meeting the students on the weekend at Chattanooga State to try to teach them to write papers. A paper that was originally due in the fall turned out to be a year-long event. Almost all of the students plagiarized their research papers.

I discovered that my seniors didn’t know how to write a paper. She admits, “My first year teaching was like boot camp, it was very challenging. White had started teaching at 21 st Century Academy in Brainerd and was there for a year until the school closed. She worked at Unum for a while and, when her son was born, she decided to go back to UTC and obtain her teaching license for high school English. As a young girl she had always wanted to be a teacher but had abandoned it when she was in college. She attended college in Clarksville and Nashville. Sally majored in theater and minored in writing. She is there to help us find what really lies inside and what we are capable of.” She is there to expand our minds and build a better future for us. She builds a relationship with her class and shows that she isn't here because it's only a job. White doesn't simply stick to the mundane events on the curriculum she also adds a sense of fun and creativity that, for once, makes the learning process an enjoyable one, rather than an undesirable routine.
